Runs are a 1- to 3-day event depending on the venue's agenda. The day starts early in the morning and lasts into the late afternoon. Boats leave the designated start point stopping at approximately 5 points along the way. At each stop, a playing card is picked up and after the 5th stop all boats then return to the end point. Upon returning, all cards are handed into the event staff. Whoever has the best poker hand wins the event, which most likely includes cash prizes. Dinner and drinks follow the awards and door prizes are handed out throughout the dinner. The event is run to raise money for that year’s charitable organization.
